A Global Analysis of Open Access Books: A Study Based on Directory of Open Access Books

Open Access Publishing provides free access to scholarly literature over the internet and has gained enormous momentum in the recent years. This paper discussed about a global analysis of open access books which are available in the Directory Open Access Books (DOAB). For this the required data has been collected from the open access directory from http://www.openbooks.org/ on 20th October 2015. Totally 3379 books were published as on and the first book was published in the year 1866 and the second book in 1867 but after the year 1962 there is gradually increased the publication of books. The maximum number of books i e., more than 300 were published in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. During the period of 1866 to 2015 totally 3379 books were published but from the year November 2011, 487 books were added in the Directory.
